Subject to any specific terms set forth in the respective distributor or dealer agreement, Remote Technologies Incorporated (“RTI”) provides the following limited warranty to its end users on purchases made directly from RTI, or an authorized RTI dealer. Although distributors or dealers are free to supplement, extend or expand these warranties to customers or end-users as they see fit, RTI’s warranty is limited to the provisions set forth below.
What is Covered?
New RTI and PRO CONTROL (herein referred to as “RTI”) branded remotes, switches, interfaces, processors, expansion devices, audio distribution systems, accessories, chargers, or parts therefor (“Products”), and repair services performed by RTI or its authorized service providers (“Services”) are warranted by RTI to its end users through authorized dealers and distributors for the duration of the Warranty Period, as set forth below.
How Long Does the Warranty Last?
This warranty is for the warranty period given below from the date of purchase of the Product from an authorized RTI distributor or dealer or the date of shipment of any repaired Product from RTI or its designated service provider, or such shorter period of time as provided in this warranty for the respective Product (“Warranty Period”):
Product or Service
RTI remotes, processors, interfaces, audio distribution systems, amplifiers, accessories, chargers, or cradles
Three (3) years from the date of purchase by a customer or end-user directly from RTI or from a dealer or distributor with original purchase receipt as proof of purchase, or, within forty-two (42) months from the date the Product was purchased from RTI by the dealer or distributor for claims where the original customer or end-user purchase receipt is missing.
One (1) year from the date of purchase by a customer or end-user directly from RTI or from a dealer or distributor with original purchase receipt as proof of purchase.
RTI rechargeable batteries
One (1) year from the date of purchase by a customer or end-user directly from RTI or from a dealer or distributor.
Services (including parts used in repairs)
Ninety (90) days from the date of delivery of the repaired Product to a dealer or distributor’s customer or end-user, or the remainder of the original Product warranty, whichever is longer.

RTI provides this limited warranty on the Products originally purchased by the end user directly from RTI, or an authorized RTI dealer. Claims may be initiated by an authorized RTI dealer and is limited to the provisions set forth in this policy and does not preclude any other warranties offered by third parties who are solely responsible for those other warranties. RTI warrants that the Products shall perform in accordance with specifications as published or specified by RTI, under normal use and conditions for the Warranty Period, and will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the applicable Warranty Period. Dealer or distributor’s exclusive remedy and RTI’s exclusive obligation, at RTI’s sole election, is to repair or replace non-conforming Product or Services. RTI reserves the right to change or modify warranties; provided, however RTI will honor any warranties in effect as of the date of the change or modification. RTI’s current warranty(ies) and related policies will be available on RTI’s website, www.rticorp.com.
RTI MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES (EXCEPT AS TO TITLE), EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR OTHERWISE AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER REPRESENTATIONS, CONDITIONS OR WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND IN PARTICULAR THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. EXCEPT AS MAY BE EXPRESSLY SET FORTH IN A DEALER OR DISTRIBUTOR AGREEMENT, RTI EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY LIABILITY FOR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INFRINGEMENT AND ANY WARRANTY OF NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW DISCLAIMERS OR EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES SO THE FOREGOING DISCLAIMER MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, IF THE DISCLAIMER OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES IS NOT PERMITTED BY THE LAW OF THE JURISDICTION APPLICABLE TO THIS WARRANTY, SUCH WARRANTIES SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THE APPLICABLE WARRANTY PERIOD AND TO THE REMEDIES SET FORTH HEREUNDER. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY MAY GIVE YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS THAT VARY BY JURISDICTION.
What is Not Covered?
This warranty does not cover or apply to: (1) any Product purchased from an unauthorized seller or internet sites; (2) normal wear and tear; (3) damage due to improper installation, misuse, accident, abuse, power failures or surges, neglect, or other external events beyond RTI’s reasonable control; (4) failure to follow instructions contained in the Product’s Installation Guide; (5) failure to perform periodic maintenance; (6) damage due to unauthorized repair or modification by any person other than those authorized by RTI; (7) damage due to transportation or shipment; or (8) any altered Product or altered serial number which has been defaced, modified, missing, or removed or is unreadable; (9) causes other than product defects, including lack of skill, competence or experience of user.
RTI is not liable for: (1) damages caused by its products or for failure of its products to perform, including any labor costs, lost profits, lost savings, incidental damages, or consequential damages; (2) damages based upon inconvenience, loss of use of the product, loss of time, interrupted operation, commercial loss, any claim made by a third party or made on behalf of a third party; (3) loss of, or damage to, data, computer systems or computer programs. IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATED TO SENSORS AND NOTIFACTIONS: RTI products are not intended or certified as primary sensor and notification devices for access control, security, emergency, or medical events. The access control, security and life safety devices and systems integrated into an RTI control and automation system should always be the primary sensors and notifiers of access, security, life safety, and emergency events.
SOLE REMEDIES. EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS WARRANTY AND TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY APPLICABLE LAW, DEALER’S OR DISTRIBUTOR’S REMEDIES SET FORTH ABOVE ARE IN LIEU AND TO THE EXCLUSION OF ALL OTHER REMEDIES, OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES ON RTI’S PART FOR DAMAGES, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR ANY DEFECTS IN THE PRODUCTS OR PARTS OR FOR ANY INJURY, DAMAGE OR LOSS RESULTING FROM SUCH DEFECTS OR FROM ANY WORK DONE IN CONNECTION THEREWITH OR FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR PUNITIVE OR OTHER SIMILAR DAMAGES OR LOSS, WHETHER BASED UPON LOST GOODWILL, LOST PROFITS OR REVENUE, LOSS OF DATA OR PRIVACY, PERSONAL INJURY, IMPAIRMENT OF OTHER GOODS ARISING FROM CLAIMS BY THIRD PARTIES OR OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL RTI BE LIABLE TO DEALER, DISTRIBUTOR OR ANY THIRD PARTY UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY OR DAMAGES OR LOSSES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS WARRANTY OR THE PRODUCTS EXCEED THE AGGREGATE THE ACTUAL PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY DISTRIBUTOR OR DEALER FOR SUCH PRODUCT OR ANY AMOUNTS PAID.
This disclaimer and exclusion shall apply even if any warranty fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow for the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages or claims based on personal injury or death, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
How to Get Service in the United States:
To obtain any warranty service available under this warranty, RTI Dealers in the United States may contact RTI directly during the Warranty Period to obtain a return authorization per RTI’s return authorization procedures. Upon granting the return authorization, RTI will provide further instructions on obtaining warranty service. No warranty service will be provided without an RTI return authorization. If the Product is returned without a return authorization, found to not be defective, or otherwise not covered by this warranty, the Product can, at dealer or distributor’s option, be returned to dealer or distributor at shipping cost or otherwise disposed of without compensation to dealer or distributor. For those Products found to be outside of the Warranty Period, RTI will offer to repair the Product. In this situation, RTI will contact you to inform you of the service fee for the repairs and for dealer or distributor’s authorization to make the repairs. Should dealer or distributor not wish to repair the Product, dealer or distributor will be given the Product return or disposal options set forth above. RTI will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred during shipping of the Product.
How to Get Service Outside the United States::
To obtain any warranty service available under this warranty, RTI Dealers outside the United States may contact an authorized RTI distributor during the Warranty Period and follow the return authorization procedures set forth by the distributor.
How the Law May Apply?
This warranty provides specific legal rights, and is subject to any federal, state, provincial or other local governmental requirements which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
